Some common problems found in the Hyundai iLoad D4CB 2.5 Litre diesel engine, Kia Sorento D4CB and Hyundai iMax D4CB engines.
One of the most common problems results from leaking injectors which creates carbon that finds its way to the sump, not being able to drain properly the carbon turns into a soot like substance that gets trapped in the oil pick up. After time this carbon builds up, not allowing oil to freely flow into the engine. The first thing to usually suffer is the turbo, not having the right amount of oil will allow the internal bushes to run dry which will result in turbo failure. Other issues include electrical faults, injector failures and turbo relief valve and the air mass metre which all may cause the turbo to overboost.
Diagnosing the issues:
- Check sump for sludge & buildup
- Check the injector seals
- Check turbo
Solution:
- Replace faulty turbo with SRP branded Turbo
- Replace intercooler with a new genuine or OEM SRP branded unit
- Replace the injector seals and test injectors
- Remove the sump and clean out the oil pick up
The best way to prevent your turbo from over-boosting again once repaired is to install a Dawes valve kit. The Dawes valve kit is installed in front of the factory boost control solenoid and if anything causes the turbo to overboost the valve kit will cut the boost where it is set with no influence from any external parts.
If in the event of catastrophic failure and the engine has seized we offer used, reconditioned and brand new genuine engines. We can match these to engine packages that includes new turbo, intercooler, injectors, injector pumps, dawes valve kits and oil feed pipes.
We hope this information can help you determine the cause of failure and hopefully save you some time and money.
