The first generation Volkswagen Touareg developed by Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche was introduced in 2002. Standard with a four wheel drive system, it came with a progressivley locking diff centre with a manual override system as well as a low range setting that is controlled from the front seat. In 2007 the Touareg underwent the usual Volkswagen facelift and after having redesigned over 2300 parts it boasted some new updated technological advancements resulting in systems like ABS Plus, Adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitor radar.

After the initial success of the first generation Volkswagen Touareg, the second generation was unveiled in 2010. With features such as the world first dynamic light assist, automatic distance control, lane departure warning, side assist, front assist collision avoidance system and even adaptive air suspension it is easy to see why Volkswagen has a world class name when it comes to technology. In 2015 a facelift was introduced that included bi-xenon head lights, a better braking system, upgraded adaptive cruise control, better suspension and a new and imporoved head unit control system.
